To support its maritime and shipping operations, 4SA, a partner to major companies and oil terminals, recruits navy officers.

Candidate profile

A graduate from a navy or merchant navy college, you will have proven experience of working with tankers (oil, gas, chemicals). A basic knowledge of international regulations and recommendations is required if you are to succeed in this strategic role, which requires you to work with all stakeholders in the port environment.

Independent, with a strong sense of initiative, you will be a natural leader. The role requires a candidate with strong personality and management skills, as well as high level of diplomacy. Fluent French and English (including technical and shipping terminology) are essential.

You will need to adhere to professional secrecy and the profession’s code of ethics. Good knowledge of IT tools (Windows and Office package) required. Category B driving license essential.

Job description

You will be in charge of safety checks for commercial ships at port on behalf of major oil companies and terminals (reference framework : ISGOTT, national and local regulations, MARPOL, SOLAS, oil tanker policies).

You will therefore be responsible for :

  • Ensuring the safe operation of the ship/shore interface,
    using the ship shore safety check list (SSSCL) as a guidance framework,
  • Advising and assisting the Loading Masters, terminal representatives, and ships,
  • Creating a sustainable operation,
  • Protecting customers’ interests.

Commercial operations relating to loading and/or unloading ships carrying crude oil, petroleum products, gas, LPG, chemicals, bunkering ex wharf and shipchandling, and transshipments.

You are an expert in maritime safety and as such, may be required to carry out additional assignments throughout France and abroad :

  • Auditing ports and terminals,
  • Training,
  • Superintendence,
  • Assistance/advice,
Location and working hours

Operations take place at the ports of LAVERA et FOS/MER, near the town of Martigues (in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region, France). Rolling shift pattern (3 x 8 hours), based on an average working week of 35 hours. Overseas travel possible, within the EEC and internationally.
